Like I said more into the original Star Trek and not the ripsoff that followed after 6. This is not better because you say so. The first was an ok start, not the best. 2,3, and 4 make a great trilogy and they tie into each other. 5 was ok probably the worst in the story and 6 was an ok close to the original 6 movies. Anything after was subpar in movies and series. This new prequel was pretty good and better than I thought and better than the ones that came after 6 and before this new one.

This JJ ABRAMS i don’t know what he’s missing but his movies seam cold . war of the world totaly not seeing the point of the movie and it got low ranks , I understand the first films are always better then the second film and doomed to fail .i Think he needs to put a new twist to the second films thats not to shocking to peel you away from the first film.

@silverrhawk I though Final Frontier was retarded and I think the first one is one of the worst movies of all time. They focus only on special effects and it barely has a story. 3 is decent but not extraordinary. 2 is ok but not as good as 4, 6, 7, 8, or 10. 9 is more like a long episode of TNG. This movie is supposed to be able to stand with and apart from them all. It succeeds.

First off I said “stay in the movie” you can’t can you? Second movie looks nothing like Roddenbery’s vision. Where is the morality tale? Third Pike was not the first Captian of NCC-1701, Robert Aprial was. And the first captian of a star ship called Enterprise was Jonathan Archer. Action? Nemesis was action packed. So much so the action drowned out the story. Hum..just like this movie. Only that action made sense. Try agian and this time stick to the movie or just admit it is a bad film.

And do you think First Contact was the only good movie of the next Generation series? this one was a reboot of the series just like Casino Royale was to James Bond or Batman Begins was to Batman.

I was skeptical about this. Not bad, Worth a watch, imo! Also original Spock being in it was awesome.

Still the original first 6 movies is the best of Star Trek I think.

The plot of the movie is good because not only did J.J. Abrams stay true to the original series created by Gene Roddenberry with the original character including Pike (the man who tell Kirk to inlist) who the first Cpt of the Enterprise as well as staying in the same star date timelines. But like The Wrath of Khan & First Contact the story was more fast pace & action pack which help bring new life into the series. As a movie fan this was the first good film in 3yrs & first good star trek in 13yr

No one has yet answered my Question. Using only what is in the movie. What is good about the plot? If I don’t get a satisfying answer, (By satisfying I mean no lame excuses no guess work of what the characters motives were and made up plots not seen in the film), I will expect the rest of you to start treating my comments with respect.

And, to be a stickler, it is never stated the dog is in fact dead. He just hasn’t appeared, yet.

No one knows what actually happened to it.

Wrong, he states he could not only transport a grapefruit from one planet to the next, “which is easy, by the way,” but that he could also do it with a life form. He infers that he has indeed tested it successfully on an inanimate object. What I infer is that this Admiral doubted his ability, so, he used his dog to prove himself correct. It what you call an “oops” moment.

As for the other topic, you are correct. I had my planet mixed up.

You don’t know your movie. Uhura said “I intersepted a transmision” “Some one attacked a Klingon pinal colony” The planet that was distroyed in the future was Romulas not the Klingon home world. Nero was mad because his Planet was burnt to a crisp by the Nova. Not that it was sucked up by a Black hole. Try agian when you know what your talking about.

Comic affect? What is so funny about a little dog being killed? And you don’t remember. Scotty never said he tested it safely first. He says “I tested my theory on Admiral archers dog”.

To bring up your second point, it is shown that no one attacked the Klingons. It is stated that a star supernovas and threatens the entire galaxy. Spock goes on a mission to destroy the supernova with the so-called ‘red matter’. He, however, fails to do so before the Klingon planet is destroyed. Nero infers that Spock had destroyed his planet with the red matter, thus swearing vengeance.

I will comment on your fourth question. Scotty stated he had previously experimented with an in-animate object (a fruit of some sort, if I remember). He then stated he could do it with a life form of some sort. The dog itself is obviously just for comedic affect.

What is good about the plot of this movie? Please tell me with out making excuses or referring to some thing that does not appear in this film. Why did some one attack the Klingons? How it is that Uhura was the only one to pick up that signal despite the fact she heard it on earth? Why did Scotty kill Admiral Archer’s prize beagle when he could have tested his theory with a box full of vegetables? Why does a cadet who violates every regulation in the book get command of the flag ship?
